This program blends flexible online learning with hands-on, scenario-based First Aid instruction that builds confidence and competence.

You’ll complete the full licensing requirements, earn your Training Completion Number, and receive a Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid certificate — both accepted by employers throughout Ontario.

  • In addition to 33.5 hours of online security guard training (provided through our training partner), our Emergency First Aid course provides an interactive classroom experience. You'll move from theory to hands-on practice under the supervision of a dynamic, engaging first aid instructor.

    Duration: Approximately 1 full day in class. 

    1. Complete about 33.5 hours of online security training through our approved partner, then

    2. Complete a portion of the First Aid course online before attending a skills class in person.

      (4 hours online, 5 hours in class.)

    • Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA) & Code of Conduct

    • Basic security procedures and emergency response

    • Report writing and incident documentation

    • Health & Safety (OHSA, WHMIS) essentials

    • Canadian legal system and legal authorities

    • Professional communication & de-escalation

    • Sensitivity training for diverse communities

    • Use of force awareness and limits

    • Scene assessment and 911 activation

    • CPR for adults, children & infants + AED use

    • Choking relief and airway management

    • Responding to heart attack, stroke, and anaphylaxis

    • Severe bleeding, shock & fainting care

    • Wound and burn management

    • Recovery position and ongoing care

FAQs about the All-Inclusive Security Guard Course

  • Yes — the security guard portion is delivered through a provider approved by Ontario’s Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

    Your Emergency First Aid training is administered through Ally First Aid and certified by the Canadian Red Cross.

  • About 40 hours total (~33.5 hours online + one day in-person or the equivalent in blended format).

  • At the Oshawa Centre, serving Durham Region (Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering).

    Blended options are also available but all Emergency First Aid courses require at least some of the course content be delivered in-person.

  • Yes — you can register for Emergency First Aid on its own if you already have security training.
